The Opportunity

The revitalisation of Mission Beach’s town centre is one of the key components of Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s Masterplan for the area. C7EVEN was appointed to manage all engagement between the Mission Beach Revitalisation project team, Council and the community during the project design phase through to the commencement of construction. C7EVEN’s role involved communicating the benefits and impacts of the project, progress updates and acting as the main point of contact for stakeholders.

Solution

C7EVEN delivered a series of engagement activities on behalf of Council over a 12-month period. This involved building relationships with key stakeholders through one-on-one meetings, door-knocking, community drop-in sessions, formation of a Community and Stakeholder Reference Group and facilitation of regular meetings, communication updates, establishment of an engagement platform to share project plans, and management of the project email.

In the initial draft design phase, C7EVEN sought to involve the community and seek feedback on the negotiable aspects of the project, which were fed into the design team. The Mission Beach community was kept informed through the detailed design phase of the project the appointed Community and Stakeholder Reference Group and communication updates.

C7EVEN worked closely with the Project Manager and relevant Council team members to provide information and answers to any stakeholder queries relating to the project, particularly with the local business owners directly affected.
